Georgia Pecans
Georgia pecans are a perfect fit in a healthy lifestyle. Besides being one of the most elegant, versatile and rich-tasting nuts, pecans provide health benefits that are hard to beat. Nothing says healthy comfort cooking more than "new crop" Georgia pecans – great for baking into a wide variety of treats, or excellent for just snacking on.
The rich, nutty taste of Georgia pecans can enhance the flavor of any dish. But more than just a savory sensation, pecans provide essential nutrients like oleic acid, which can help lower "bad" LDL cholesterol levels. Pecans are also rich in vitamin E, thiamin, magnesium, and copper, and are a good source of fiber.
Pecans are perishable because of their high oil content and they must be stored properly to maintain good quality.
TO KEEP YOUR PECANS FRESH ALL YEAR:
Shelled pecans need to be either refrigerated in airtight containers for up to nine months, or frozen in zipper-locked freezer bags for up to two years. Pecans can be frozen and refrozen for at least two years without loss of flavor or texture.
