This recipe from @JennaFreshAndFit features our Oregon pears from Kiyokawa Family Orchards available every October. ๐
Ingredients
6 ripe pears, (mixed variety)
4 tbsp unsalted butterย
1 tbsp fresh lemon juiceย
1/2 tsp pure vanilla bean paste or extractย
1/3 cup light brown sugar, packedย
1 tsp cinnamonย
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cardamomย
1/4 tsp sea saltย
1/8 tsp nutmegย
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp cardamom
- 2 tsp vanilla bean paste
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Topping
- 1 egg white
- 1 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp Demerara sugar
- Vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
- Peel and core pears. Slice pears ยผ – ยฝ inch thick.ย
- Melt butter in the bottom of a medium pot. Add pears, lemon juice, vanilla bean, brown sugar and spices to the pot. Stir gently to coat pears.ย
- Continue to cook, stirring regularly for 10-15 minutes, until liquid thickens and pears are soft. Cool mixture until warm. Serve or store in an airtight jar in refrigerator.
