This recipe features our Michigan strawberries from Walker Farms available every spring. This recipe creates approximately one 8-ounce jar.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1 pint Strawberries
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

Instructions

  1. Hull and slice strawberries directly into cooking pot.
  2. Add water, sugar, kosher salt, and strawberries to a pot and bring to a boil.
  3. Turn the heat down to a simmer, cook until strawberries begin to break apart, about 10-15 minutes. The longer the cook the thicker the syrup will be.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and lime juice.
  5. Strain syrup through a cheese cloth lined mesh strainer.
  6. Cool and store in refrigerator for up to two weeks.
